Even when surrounded by entrenched and widespread opposition, there are those who stand up and choose to make a difference. Give Her Life has been privileged to meet advocates throughout India who are actively bringing changes in homes, communities, and even hospitals where gendercide occurs. GHL has mentioned before that our goal is to eventually create sustainable programs in India to help end gendercide, and these people are teaching us and inspiring us to continue our journey towards that goal. They’ve shared their stories with us, and now we get to share them with you. Read a quote from the first story below, and watch for more stories via #BeTheChange campaign on social media. We dedicate this campaign to all those we’ve met who dare to stand and declare that girls are worthy of life.
The reality of the situation is that gendercide does not just impact the poor or just one community; it is a cultural belief that girls are unworthy of life. This view is seen as true whether one is poor or rich, illiterate or educated. In order to put an end to gendercide, we need many courageous changemakers doing their piece to create a world with dignity for the life of girls.
